Mizu-Manjyu




It's getting hotter and the summer is approaching in Japan..

Today's sweet is called mizu-manjyu(水まんじゅう), something to cool you on hot days. It literally means water dumpling with its transparent jelly texture made from steaming kuzu starch dough. And inside is an azuki bean paste.

The green leaf is called sasa(笹) which preserves food from decaying.
